AI Search Engine - The MITRE Corporation

Powered by IBM Watson, this new search engine brings multiple data sources into one application. Previously, project information, employee data, contracts and other data was separated into different searches. This application enables users to return search results from any of these data sources in one place, allowing them to quickly get a view of everything MITRE has to offer on a topic. The implementation of IBM Watson and other intelligent systems, supports the ability to return highly relevant cross-cutting results.

Work I delivered for this project

  • Designed comprehensive Hi-fidelity mockups of search engine application from MVP to second release including…

    • Design of search results layout, navigation, filters/facets, bookmarking system, and about page

    • Design system of colors, typography, interactive components, and grid system

    • Worked with development team to set responsive design behaviors and parameters

  • Conducted three rounds of user interviews with potential user base

    • totaling 18-24 interviews with participants ranging across several management levels and areas of expertise

    • Presented to stakeholders with prioritized recommendations on implementation of user feedback

  • Ran Early Adopters Group to create consistent pipeline of user feedback

Impact

A one-stop search shortens the amount of time for internal research while also broadening the search area. It will allow users to leverage previous knowledge and find topic area experts.
